Written by Richard Thompson, Thursday, 08 January 2009

Several websites are reporting that tomorrow, 9 January 2009, will see the public release of Windows 7 Beta 1.

It appears that Microsoft has added some really neat functionality to the OS, example:

  • The ability to create and attach to VHD's from your Windows 7 Desktop
  • Inclusion of DirectX 11
  • An all new start bar/menu which allows you to right click on an application and perform a common task
  • Improvements to Bitlocker which now allows users to encrypt removable devices as well

Visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx tomorrow to get your hands on a copy of the beta.
