This article was previously published under Q303158 SYMPTOMS When you use a batch file that was originally created to backup Microsoft Exchange 5.5 and is now being used to backup a Windows 2000 Exchange Server, the Exchange information store is not backed up. CAUSE This can occur if the batch file uses the /IS or /DS switches with the Ntbackup.exe tool. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, use the Ntbackup.exe Backup Wizard to create a .bks file and make sure to choose to back up the Exchange Information Store. NOTE: You will not be able to select the Microsoft Exchange check box because it is unavailable. Instead, double-click Microsoft Exchange to expand the Exchange Server branch down to the folder or information store for any server. When this is complete, check the properties for the .bks file and then copy the command line to a new batch file. MORE INFORMATION The /IS and /DS Ntbackup.exe switches are only valid for Exchange 5.5. Exchange 2000 uses Active Directory.
