[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/11/30 10:41 I have heard numerous things about the Longhorn Gateway for Terminal Servers but I wonder what pro's it has against the Citrix Secure Gateway. As far as I have seen you can work with smartcards and the Gateway (haven't seen it yet btw..) but you can enable smartcards in the new RDP6 so imho you should be able to enable smartcard authentication to the new gateway server from the longhorn type right?

What do you think about the new Windows longhorn Gateway Server? Let me hear your opinion.

Re:[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/11/30 12:17 The gateway works fine. One downside though: smartcards and single signon are not available if the server is not part of the domain where the TS resides.

And another thought. Gateway will be out of date since Whale is part of MS. Why not integrate it in there since it's an SSL VPN solution?

The 'Web interface' is not as dynamic as Citrix WI unfortunately, you would have to pick up the applications manually or by script. It will do fine in small enviroments though

Re:[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/11/30 13:46 So that would mean that we get more work with publishing applications through the web interface of terminal server. I am a bit curious how it all works (don't have a testlab yet).. GPO adicted

Re:[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/11/30 14:28 What you do is create an application from a wizard and this will be a link on the web site. In this wizard you would provide command line and server and of you go. The result is a sort of RDP file. It makes use of the activex component in the browser on the client (IE only!) to start mtsc with the right parameters.

It's fairly simple and easy, but you would have to do this every time some changes are made in your enviroment related to the application.

Re:[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/12/01 10:20 yeah well, let's hope you can create such published apps sometimes with tools like pat.exe that work excelent for fast publishing published app's in a citrix environment. GPO adicted

Re:[Discussion] Longhorn Terminal server Gateway? - 2006/12/01 10:51 It's all WMI based so fairly easy to script I understand.
