CDROM disappears in Vista Ultimate - 2008/07/08 12:00
Hi Datacrashers,
Yesterday I spent quite some time trying to troubleshoot an error where the cdrom disappeared.
In device manager the cdrom was showing as having an error, the specific error was driver corrupt or missing.
I tried replacing cdrom.sys and cdrom.inf with working copies but that was no good! Eventually I found a registry key which was hurting me.
HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass
And then under the following key
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
I had to delete the LowerFilters value!
Tricky one to find, but worked a treat for me!
