Re:Hide Drives - 2006/05/11 20:17 Hey cosy,

that is not correct. How did you enable the policy to hide the drives, with loopback group policy processing? need a few more details before I can answer your question.

The command prompt or tools like Total Commander don't use the windows shell so they will see the drives. There is no workaround for that.

How did you implement your policy? that is important. If the users logs on to a full desktop does he or she get's to see the drives also? gpresult is a great tool to see if the user get's the policy loaded.

regards,
Hans

Re:Hide Drives - 2006/05/12 09:16 HI,

lol, I just follow your How to's but didn't enable the group policy processing?

All the users are only access citrix through the publish application and when they try to save they can see the C: D: drive and they try to copy to their. That's why i want to hide.

How do i setup default saving to Citrix server home directory (Mydocumet redirection?)

Thanks.

Re:Hide Drives - 2006/05/12 10:24 Well if you implemented the gpo on the OU the user resides in then it should simply work. Group loopback policy processing is simply used to get different policies on a terminal server if users logon to that particular server.

Make the policy > link and enable it to the OU the user(s) reside in and then the user won't be able to see the local drives anymore. For c,d drives you don't have to change the adm template (system.adm). I am not sure if you can set a particular drive to save documents to you would have to load the office adm templates for that which you can download from Microsoft and search there. I would advice to load these templates because you can configure much goodies there in office with gpo's like disable help and repair what can screw up your installation if a user hits repair.

If you can show us some screenshots how you implemented it. Also logon to a full desktop and run GPResult to see if the policy is actually implemented or skipped for what ever reason!

Re:Hide Drives - 2006/05/12 12:34 Hi,

I create the New OU called "CTX Server" and add the new GPO called Hide Drive. Under User -> Administrative Template->windows explore.

I run GPResualt and found nothing in that txt file.

gpresualt /z>gp.txt

Re:Hide Drives - 2006/05/12 14:06 are you member of that OU in other words does your account reside in that OU.

Test situation.
Create OU CTX Server
Create User test and place the use in OU CTX Server
Create a Policy called hide drives in the OU CTX Server and set the permissions correct. If you having trouble finding permissions you can download the Group Policy Management Console www.microsoft.com/downloads When the user is not member of the OU CTX Server it will never get the policy.
