Reading several forums I noticed that there are many postings on troubles with the newest ICA client from Citrix. What would be wisdom, rolling out the client or not. It has a few benifits (can be installed without local administrative permissions on a workstation) and disadvantages?
Since I don't maintain a Citrix farm anymore I only am aware of what I read from the several forums I visit on a daily basis. On the forum of Brain Madden for instance there are several threads reporting corrupted launch.ica files (holding double entries) and that the newest client (V10) won't do what it's supposed to do, namely letting you logon to the citrix environment. I've searched the citrix download site for possible hotfixes but there are none yet. Maybe it will take some time like the client 9.x having trouble getting a connection to the citrix secure gateway (remember that anoying protocol driver error) before hotfixes are launched for the ICA client V10. I would recommend to hold on to your older 9.2x client and test torrowly before putting the V10 client into your production environment. Maybe it's getting like the OS's Microsoft intruduces and everybody says "we are not rolling it out until SP1 is out :) " I would like to hear from you readers what experience you have with the ICA Client V10 software (bad and good) you can add it as a comment to the article and maybe we can add some fixes to the Citrix FAQ we host |
