A few moments ago I posted information about Windows Vista SP1 and it being released to manufacturing. I just received the press release that Windows Server 2008 has, after approximately 3 years and 5000 peoples input been released to manufacturing with an expected launch date of 27 February 2008. - Customers and companies who participated in the SP1 beta program received SP1 last friday.
- Volume licensing customers can expect the English SP1 at the end of this week, with other languages following soon after.
- Later this month SP1 will be available to MSN and TechNet Plus subscribers.
Apparantly performance tests have been ongoing for the past 2 years and Microsoft have noticed significant performance benefits against Windows Server 2003, particularly with IIS7 and SMB2! To read more about this see the press release at http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2008/feb08/02-04WS2008.mspx or read the Windows Server division blog at http://blogs.technet.com/windowsserver/ I'm looking forward to testing this SP out at the end of this week.
