Has anyone performed a core installation of Windows Server 2008? If you have you probably found yourself reading a few readme's and faq's before working out how to activate the server, configure users, configure roles, etc. I know I did. Guy Teverovsky has released a product called Core Configurator. The utility is great. A very small msi file which you need to install once, I use the word install, but its not in fact the correct word to use. I should say extract. The files can then simply be copied and pasted onto other servers as necessary! The functions supported by Core Configurator are: Product Activation Configuration of display resolution Clock and time zone configuration Remote Desktop configuration Management of local user accounts (creation, deletion, group membership, passwords) Firewall configuration WinRM configuration IP configuration Computer name and domain/workgroup membership Installation of Server Core features/roles
