Now that the public preview is available of XenApp 5.0 we also get the WI5.0. I went playing with it on a windows 2008 server and after several back's and installing more roles and rebooting the server I finally installed the new Xenapp5.0 server. Quickly browsing to the new web interface i was stunded. A ugly bettie that turned into a beautiful lady.
Emediatly the plan got into my head to update my secure gateway with the new looks of this web interface. After installing .net3.5 upgrading the MMC snapins (I got 1 failure for password manager snapin) I got the new web interface working. I implemented the security configuration that Thomas Koetzing and Víctor Viudez created were you can make a AD group that only has access permissions to the web interface but imaging... it is gone. So if you used there configuration to implement security on your web interface or secure gateway (WI) do not upgrade to the new version. Instead wait until people figure out what to change to get the security improvement back. Citrix made it easier to implement a welcome mesage, disclaimer etc so thumbs up. If you want a look just download the public preview from www.citrix.com (you need a mycitrix account which is free). |
